CENTELSA’S KEY TO THE WELL-BEING OF ITS EMPLOYEES

Learn about our solution to reduce constant ailments in the elbows and shoulders of the group of operators in the company.

Centelsa’s engineering area noted with concern a problem of ergonomics and capacity of its operators, who had been suffering constant ailments in elbows and shoulders as a result of their work assembling cardboard boxes, in which they packed rolls of cable of an approximate weight of 4 to 6 kilos in eight-hour shifts. The solution alternatives explored by the company initially pointed to the implementation of a robot that would be in charge of this task, however, its acquisition, implementation and maintenance costs represented a very high cost.

Faced with this challenge, Difsel proposed a solution based on the customization of a machine for this purpose, which performs the same work as the initially quoted robot, but with the benefits of a better cost and easier maintenance of the machine. herself.

The impact for the company was very positive, due to the almost complete reduction of ailments and physical discomfort for the operators, who now only deal with assembling the boxes, while the machine designed by Difsel does the heavy work.

For Difsel’s project manager, Carlos Villegas, this development implied a double challenge, which resulted in double benefits for the client: “In terms of speed of the production line, an important improvement of 30% was also achieved , because our development coincided with the purchase of another machine in Centelsa that is responsible for producing the rolls at a higher speed, so the additional challenge was to maintain this new production rate from production to packaging.”

This complex task, which involved stages of mechanical and electronic design, programming, and commissioning, was accomplished in just six months.
